Riverland is a fourth-generation family-owned horticultural business based in Gisborne, New Zealand. Our family has been growing fruit here since 1969. Today, we grow, pack, and ship apples and pears to customers throughout New Zealand and overseas.

Fruit growing is seasonal by nature, but the work happens year-round. From winter pruning through to harvest, our team works across the orchards and packhouse to manage each stage of the process. While growing methods and technology have changed over the years, many of the principles remain the same: pay attention to the details, make decisions for the long term, and look after the land that supports the business.

Riverland is involved in more than just growing produce. Alongside our orchards, we operate packing and post-harvest facilities, allowing us to follow the fruit from the tree through to the customer. Having these parts of the business closely connected helps us maintain visibility throughout the supply chain and respond quickly when challenges arise.

Like many businesses in horticulture, Riverland is built on relationships. Some of our growers, customers, suppliers and team members have worked with us for decades. Others have joined us more recently. Together, they form an important part of the business and the communities we work within.

"The Most Loved" reflects something simple. Fruit is grown by people, handled by people, and ultimately enjoyed by people. Behind every piece of fruit is a chain of growers, orchard workers, packhouse teams, logistics providers, retailers and families. We never lose sight of that connection.

More than fifty years after our family first started growing fruit in Gisborne, Riverland remains focused on the same thing: growing good fruit, building strong relationships, and creating a business that can continue for generations to come.

Grow With Riverland

Alongside our own orchards, Riverland works with growers across New Zealand to pack, store and market fruit for domestic and export customers. We work with apples, pears, citrus, avocados and a range of other produce, helping connect growers with markets in New Zealand and overseas.

Our packhouse and post-harvest facilities support fruit through grading, packing, storage and distribution. Because we are growers ourselves, we understand the practical challenges involved at every stage of the process and aim to provide straightforward, reliable support to the growers and customers we work with.

We believe successful partnerships are built on trust, clear communication and a shared focus on long-term outcomes. Every grower and customer is different, so we take the time to understand individual goals and find practical ways to support them.
